Courtyard Birds

The simple large shapes are good for beginners to perfect their needleturning skills and the design also works well for machine appliqué. The design can be combined with other blocks to make the Courtyard Quilt or can be used as a stand alone design by adding borders – perhaps a shaped arch? I’ve seen some lovely versions with brown, black and even blue birds! see Nadir’s version in the Gallery.
